Where are you flying from? Many, if not most flights originating in the West arrive in New Delhi at ghastly hours (like early morning or very very late). And if not coming directly from the airport why would you stay near the airport? Are you a flight attendant? There is nothing worth seeing near the Indira Gandhi Airport. I spend 3 months in India every year and I'm always in Delhi. The other people are about right 15-20 KM (9-12 miles). A bit far for an auto rickshaw but doable.
Why not edit you question so I can figure out why you need this info!
Your name is Anand so you might be Indian? Ok hope this helps....Don't think the meto has made it to the airport yet. Posible though things happen very quickly in India!

International Airport (ISBT) is 17 km (http://www.airportsindia.org.in/aai/igi/... Though the same can differ here and there depending on the route you take.
Similarly domestic airport will be 1-2 km less then this.
