I have a laptop, I'm running windows XP, and I have an external HDD. When I had my external drive hooked up I could go into my computer and it would show up as drive E in blue lettering. Well something got messed up and now it doesn't show up in my computer or in disk management, but it does show up in device manager. But when I go into my computer drive C is in blue lettering. What does this mean? And how do I fix it so I can access my external drive? PLEASE HELP!!!!!! Any info is appreciated. Thanks!

I can not access the drive at all, so I can't assign a new drive letter. The only place I can find the drive is in device manager. I CAN NOT ACCESS ANY OF THE FILES ON THE DRIVE.

It seems like your external drive is corrupted. You may have to buy a disk recovery tool a try it out.

My advise dear is restore your computer setup from last time when your DRIVE was working. One of your drivers is over written or drivers need roll back darling.

The cable is connected good, right? You sure you didn't disable the drive in windows or autodetect?
