After I delete cookies and clear history,system works great for just about 5 minutes and then I'm back to square one,and system slows down,how do I solve this problem without throwing money at it---please give kind and simple explicit advice to an old man,"thank you ever so much in advance.

you can free up space by either using your "disk clean up wizard" or your disk defraggmenter. if it still dosen't work try formatting up your c:drive for a change.
or
either use a 256 mb ram for your windows xp (if that's what u have) and call up your enginneer (software) to find more 'bout it.

You hadn't stated which operating system is on that computer so, judging by the sound of the progressive slowness, I'm going to guess that you've got Windows XP installed. Given that, you'll need to up that RAM to at least 256 MB but I suspect that you won't be happy with the performance until it has 512MB or more installed.

It sounds like you may have a trojan or virus in your system.
I suggest running through your system with AVG free edition, and Spybot Search And Destroy (both are free from the manufacturers websites)
Ok, assuming that isn't the issue, do a google search (www.google.com) and look for Optimize Memory.
There are many product out there, very few are free, some are cheap, but of course the best ones will require you to "throw money" at the manufacturers before they will throw you back their software.
