If you want to go stealth pn your computer, I suggest you download a firewall. go to www.zonealarm.com. They offer a free full featured firewall that has a "stealth" mode to hide while on the net. They also offer a free 15 day trial of their full suite, that includes anti spayware, firewall and anti virus all in one.

This has nothing to do with Windows. You can hide yourself from your Yahoo Friends/Buddies by selecting 'Invisible' in Yahoo Messenger. There is a similar function in MSN Messenger.

There are programs, however, which will get round this.

No..Your IP address will always show itself..unless you use a third party software.Try www.the-cloak.com....it redirects you to the site you want but by going through there servers so if anyone looks for the ip adress they only see the IP adress for The Cloak...

In windows firewall, make sure to block ICMP connections. That's what is responsible for 'pings' in case script kiddies are trying to ping a box to see if it has any open ports. If that's what you're speaking of.
