This is NOT anything new...! These playoffs have been filled with bad calls made in suggesting points of the games, but we should be used to that now. Spurs lost a game because of a bad call, as did the Cavs, the Pistons, and the Suns. Tonights' game with Dallas and Miami was a hard faught one, and no different. No, it shouldn't have been decided by free throws--but don't discredit Miami for the referees bad call. They played GREAT tonight, and have not once given up in this series or lost their composure. Champions are supposed to be able to play through the good and the bad, and if Dallas is truly the champion, they should'nt be worried, or complaining. Yeah, the officals all but suck these playoffs--but it isn't the opposing teams' fault--it's the leagues! Food for thought....!

First of all Dallas does not suck, to whoever says that, Dallas is the best team in the NBA. As were the Sonics of 1996, the Jazz of 1997 and 1998. But these teams never won a championship. Neither did Barkleys 1993 Suns, or the Blazers of 1992, or the Lakers of 1991. Those five teams were, by most standards, the best teams in the NBA. The only thing that stood between them was Michael Jordans will.
The Mavericks, if they lose, are losing to Dwyane Wade's will. A player like wade comes along every 25 years, if that. We might very well be watching the greatest player of all time, winning his historic first ring. We wont know until his career is up, but several things are for sure. 1. Wade is a monster, and no one can stop him. 2. The Heat are a veteran club that have been counted out all year, and they are too tough to be pushed around. 3. Refs make bad calls sometimes, and that sucks.
and 4. The last play of the game, Wades drive..was, indeed a foul. LOOK AT THIS LINK.

PLEASE,EVERYONE, YOUR THOUGHTS ON THIS
"NON FOUL".
Also, below is a line DIRECTLY from the NBA rule book regarding backcourt violations.
INBOUNDING EXCEPTION: During the last two minutes of the fourth period and/or any overtime period, the ball may be passed anywhere (frontcourt or backcourt) on the court.
Go HEAT!

I really hate that Miami won because I'm a MAVS fan all the way. But it was a very good game and Miami fought hard. I don't think its fair for the officials to make bad calls towards the end of the game and it's apparent that the other team was going to win. In tonights game, the very last call was not a foul, the refs called a foul so the game would be given to Miami.
The last foul is what decided the game and that isn't fair at all. Through the whole game there were constant unnecessary whistles, which stops the game. Just let the team play.
Refs are not letting teams play, they are calling the game for teams and making things go the winning teams way.
I think the league really needs to sit down and re-think some of the rules and officiating calls. Too many refs are deciding games when it needs to be left up to the two teams. We don't want to see the officials constantly calling bogus calls in a game we want to see the two teams beat it out to the finish.

very good points, cligradchic04!
Champions ARE supposed to play through adversity, including what they consider to be bad calls by referees. You're exactly right.
And as for you Mavs fans out there, I certainly wouldn't count Dallas out of this series by any means... They have two games left at home, and they play much better there... and if they play better at home than they did in Miami, they'll win the series in 7 games. Miami won two very close games at home, both of which could easily have gone the other way. And Dallas' repeated comebacks in game 5 is proof that they are not giving up.
Dallas will also have their full roster available in the next two games. That will help as well.
Besides, a lot of the same people who complain about preferential treatment by the referees for one player/team or another seem to forget that Michael Jordan got ABSOLUTELY EVERY call in every key playoff game during the Bulls "dynasty" in the 90s... and yet, Jordan's the 'greatest' (according to them), while the Heat (or the Mavs) simply win because 'they got all the calls, and the refs sucked'.
P.S. I wouldn't have called a foul on Wade's last drive, especially after seeing the replay... he barely got touched, and I'm not sure Nowitski even made contact with him.. Dirk kind of swiped at the ball, but Wade just threw the ball up there hoping to get a foul...it was like Wade wasn't even trying to actually put the ball in the whole... I've seen Wade make a lot of 3 pt plays on tougher drives/shots than that last one...

Yes I am still angry about the Suns and bad calls but Miami did play better than the Pistons. And I don't know why you are complaining about the Cavs and the Pistons. That does not make any sense. But the refs don't make bad calls. They are actually there watching everything that's going on while the fans are watching their favorite player or whoever has the ball. And they are not close enough to see what the player did wrong. The refs are though. So its you being a sore loser. That's it. You are a sore loser.

wow mavs fans need to stop complaining. sure, the last foul was a ticky tack foul but there were many questionable calls for both teams throughout the game and the series. it's not like everything is going in the direction of one team. like the person who asked this question said...the heat are playing with more compsure. just look at howard calling that timeout tonight....sometimes it may be better to have some veterans rather than a talented younger player.

It's not a thing of discrediting Miami's effort, but what happens to the Mavericks that lost because of the bad call? They didn't do enough? I mean they lost by 1 point which was a direct product of the bad call.

Josh Howard is gay and does not know what he is doing on the court. He did the same thing for Wake Forest. The refs are doing a great job the last three games. Heat in 6.
