If you can afford touring of whole of Kerala by private vehicle, take Qualis or Innova for comfort and convenience.
Local transport has its limitations.

if u can afford private vehicles, its up to u! in other case, u may depend on the Road transport corporation. it is well connected to all the districts in kerala.... u may reach a particular spot and then decide upon hiring a vehicle... this will cost u lesser amount comparitively...
kerala is such a place where u never feel tired of visiting places!
"ente keralam ethre sundaram" means my kerala is sooo beautiful!

That depends upon the money you can spend
if you have enough with you the prefered one is renting a car, so that you will get complete privacy and you can manage the time also.
public transport system are not so good when you are a tourist. If you have not much money to spend then only you can depend on them.Also you have to reserve tickets so early otherwise seats wont be available,particulary in train.
the better option is to contact some tour operators.They will conveniently arrange tour according to your budget

You should hire KSRTC (Kerala state road transport corporation)
It shows all the tourist places of Kerala. Happy journey.
