I moved out at 18 to go to university. I got a small allowance from my parents that almost covered my rent but was not entitled to any grant so I got a job. I went home for the first Christmas holiday but after that I didn't go back for holidays just the odd few days as I was able to increase the hours on my job during the holidays.
I think moving out at 18 is a very good idea, otherwise you can get stuck. My brother is 28 and still lives with our parents although he has a good job he feels he can't afford a place of his own. This is rubbish he has just got too used to having a large disposable income and doesn't want to have to spend it on rent or a mortgage.
There are plenty of ways to move out like sharing with friends or buying somewhere that needs work done so is cheaper. You just have to live within your income and make your mortgage your only debt.
Don't expect to live in a palace when you are 18.
Definitely move out you won't regret it.

I moved to another town when I turned 18 to go to uni.
I had no family or friends so I had to find a rental property to live in. Things were very tight. No money - 2 minute noodles etc.
I ended up having to leave uni and find a job after 12 months as I could not afford the textbooks and was not getting much financial assistance.
I regret not finishing my degree...but I am now employed in a job I love and am studying via correspondence. I would not be in this situation now if I hadn't moved home.

I went away to university. I saved up money during the summer, got scholarships, worked part-time and had a bit of help from my parents that went towards tuition. When I finished university I moved out and got a job. I shared a three-bedroom apartment with two other girls and immediately started working full-time. I was able to live and save some money, but it wasn't the high life. Until you get a really stable job you're going to have to rent, and you're going to have to share. It's that simple.

if you go to college it is perfectly acceptable to stay home with mom and dad, otherwise grow up and start being responsible for yourself, here's what i did, after graduating i wasn't ready for college, i was living at home for a short while with a dead-end job, i decided to join the army, best decision i ever made, you don't have to worry about the basics (food, clothing, shelter) and you get paid (not much, but at 18 you don't need much), you'll learn a valuable trade and earn money for college, additionally you will do and see things most people only dream about, so if your not ready college i would definately recommend the military, thanks to the military i now have a degree and a successful career

I moved out because I really, really just wanted to go. I stayed in the same city, and my parents continued to support me while I went to college.
