Yeh, you & every other Joe can make a really hot demo, that will make you & everybody rich. If you really believe in yourself, get out & perform in clubs, & get yourself a local fan base. Get numerous copies made & sell your demo to your fans. Network with DJ's at dance clubs & try to get them to play your demo to their audience. Try to be there when your music is being played & observe the audience reaction to it. Send your demo out to all of the record companies & radio stations you can think of, along with a schedule of the clubs you will be appearing in so that a record company exec and/or DJ can come out a see you perform if it turns out they hear some potential in the demo they heard (if they listen to it). Record companies get enough demo tapes, and CD's on a daily basis to drown in, so it will be hard to get it heard. Can't get a record deal? Then publish your music yourself, get a loan, or go for private investors, family or friends, and then see above. Be patient, the average time to become an overnight success in the entertainment business is about 5 years.
