There is no simple answer to this question. It's taken many years just to have people realize that there is a serious problem in not only corrupt countries but all around the world and yes, in the worst of the corrupt countries it is not even a glimmer in any ones eye as these countries don't care enough for it's people to do anything at all to help.
These are very sad times for those countries now as well as for every country and with the heads of every country only wanting to harm others where will it all end for man kind?

I think you are looking at it backwards, First you should combat the corruption in the poverty stricken areas of the country, then you could worry about poverty. Corruption is a vacuum that sucks the money out of the communities, until you remove the vacuum, the money will continue to flow right out the other end.
It's like trying to fill a barrel with water, but the barrel has a hole in it, you would never be able to fill it, no matter how much more water you put in it, unless you fix the hole.

This is almost impossible to do. That is why the average donor is reluctant to send money to African countries. The whole damn continent is corrupt. So, it's my opinion that we should let Bono, Isaiah Washington, Brad Pitt, Angeline Jolie and the rest of the bleeding hearts who have more money than sense, to continue to raise money that will unlikely reach the intended.

I for one, whether it be in business or for charity, would like to see a return on investment. That is just not the case, in donations for Africa. So you see, corruption is a big cause of poverty in many countries. It is so widespread, that each country with this problem must become pro-active, if it expects to ever get past poverty. Pro-active in the sense of ridding itself of corrupt people and government corruption.

You can't help everyone else but you can help yourself and a few others. Obtain the highest level of education available to you and encourage others to do as well. The wealth in the world is poorly distrubuted. (The assets of the 200 richest people are more than the combined income of 41% of the world's people http://www.learningpartnership.org/resources/facts/globalization)
Even though fewer people have more of the money, gaining an education can give you a better chance.

What a QUESTION! Wow.

I fear it is truly unanswerable, when you consider we can't even combat poverty and hunger here in the U.S.A.

Wait, I made a bad error in logic there. I assumed our government isn't corrupt... Sorry.

Give access to education, job training and healthcare to as many people as possible. Fighting corruption may seem like the answer, but until the population has the ability to see beyond their day to day lives, they will not see what is beyond corruption.
