Hawaiian tattoo designs might depict squares, triangles, crescents and figures of ‘aumakua (personal gods), such as the lizard or shark. As recently as 1923, publisher Lorin Thurston told of seeing a woman with a row of triangular dots around her ankle as a charm against sharks, applied because a legend tells of a woman who was bitten by her ‘aumakua, a shark. When the woman cried out that he was supposed to protect her, the shark let her go and replied, I will not make that mistake again, for I will see the marks on your ankle.

Kauhuhu is the Shark God of Molokai

In Hawaii, the images of the tattoo Gods are kept in the places of tattoo priests. Each tattoo session begins with a prayer to the tattoo Gods that the operation might not cause harm, that the wounds might heal soon and that the designs might be handsome.

if your talking about the blade and the chalice that you saw in the DA Vinci movie it is the V (chalice because it looks like the actual cup of a chalice) and an upside down V which looks like a blade often called the sword or blade. the arrow pointing down is the symbol of woman the cup of the chalice is the symbol for a womans vagina. the blade or sword is symbol for a mans penis. if you look at the square/ compass symbol of the freemasons you see the crossing of the blade and the chalice which represents the action of sex. these are actually hermetic symbols and not celtic. the star of soloman is also derived from the symbols of chalice and blade. with a line to complete each triangle.and even on the freemason symbol if you were to draw an imaginary horizontal line connecting the ends of the square and the compass you would have solomans star. and that most of the rituals in a freemason orginization are done in a room made exactly to the specifications of solomans temple. including the 2 middle pillars of black and white named boaz and jachin

Hawaiian legends or Hawaiian folklore

and

Runes or rune lore, alot of Celtic web cite have links.
Wicca cites might help with runes as well.

The Norse meaning for the arrow up is warrior or strength. Some believe if it is reversed it means the opposite, weak.

Some believe it makes no difference.

It also depends if you have a Celtic set of runes or a Norse set.
