Have any of your parents or grandparents stuck together, as in married, for their entire life (or are almost likely to do so)?

As in my case all members of our family tree, atleast upto my Great Great Grandparents, have stuck together for their whole life & I most likely will do so, too. My mom's first cousin once removed was the first person in our family tree to ever go through a divorce (7 years back); though he has married someone else & they are living a happy married life together, his divorce was treated by my family/relatives like the biggest, most shameful incident ever to happen to our genealogy tree. But this is not necessarily due to the "record-breaking" reasons, it is because our culture itself does not tolerate divorce.

How about you?

I broke the mold, being the only one divorced in my family.
(Ok, so I made a poor choice of marrying a loser.)

However, my mother SHOULD have divorced my father.
He brutally abused her, and I hated him.
So I DO believe in divorce!

My mom and dad was married for 25 years before he passed away. My aunt has been married to her husband since she was 16 and now she is in her late 70's and they are still married today! That is a life time of marriage. My grand parents on my mom;s side of the family were married over 60 years.
For me my first husband died, My second abandoned us, and my husband now has been with me for going on 8 years and we have a great marriage and life together. Marriage should be for a life time but people today do not seem to think so.

The Bible doe not allow divorce from a marriage unless there is adultery is committed, (women or men going with anyone except their spouse). So, depending on the reason for the divorce, your family may have good reason for being a shame. Although they can't control the actions of others.

My grandparents stayed together until my Grandpa passed away - they were married 40 years. Other than that there have been divorces in my family. I'm married and planning on staying married =)

I used to work with the elderly and many of the women have said that in "their day" divorce was never a consideration. If your husband cheated on you, berated you, disrespected you or beat you, it was your duty to stand by him.

Both my grandmothers, both married in the 1930's, were basically tortured by their husbands. One of my grandmothers stayed married to my grandfather until he died. He was a very wealthy and powerful man and threatened to kill her if she even thought of leaving.
My other grandmother divorced my grandfather after all her children left the house because she didn't want her children to bear the stigma of HER divorce, as a result, my mother suffered physical abuse from her father because her mother wouldn't leave.
