People want to be liked, and people want to be right. By following the majority of people, they increase their chances of both being liked and being right. It's easier to follow when having to make hard decisions, and it requires less cognitive effort.

It's not so much that sheep follow the flock...it's that they don't listen to the shepherd while they follow the bold one in the flock. They can be incredibly hard headed and evasive. They will go to great lengths and effort to avoid being corralled for something so evil as a meal or medical treatment. If you combine a box of rocks (dumb as) and a Houdini instructional book (get yourself in a pickle) you would have them pegged. And then when you get them caught they just give up (sit them on their butt and they will not move). And the rams can be very combative and hurtful just because they can. It really is humbling to be around sheep and see the similarities between them and humanity (myself included) and to know that God calls us sheep.

that is a very good question that I have also asked myself. I don't really understand why people are like that but must peope are. Maybe they are too afraid to stand up for themselves...it's easier to follow then to lead. I have never been a sheep and I would never want to live that way and I really don't like seeing people like that.

I'm not sheep! Some people hate what I believe in and I told them "If you don't like me.. then don't bother speaking to me" and with a smile :P.. the smile always get's em angry xD !!!
Maybe that's why i'm alone. I had to kiss-up to people. I won't change my interests just to suit someone else so that I can go 'hang' out with them... there's no use being liked for someone you're not...

i believe people are sheep because they are afraid to be ridiculed for being difrent which only happens because people dont like what they dont understand people find it easier to just follow others then to stand up and say i'm diffrent a lot of people dont like confration so instead of stating what hey like at he chance of being laughed at or picked on they just say they like what every one else does every one wants to be liked it's natural some of us just fear that we wont be liked for who we are

they arent they are people. but really, as a species it is more favorable to fit in with a group or class in order to survive on some level. with animals it is physical survival, and with humans it may have become emotional or mental survival
