I liked both decades of music. But for me, my live and learn stage was during the 80's!! Rock on!!!!

I would have to say the 70's for overall popular music. But in the 80's band such as MetallicA. Slayer, Anthrax, Megadeth,Testament, Danzig, White Zombie, Venom, Napalm Death, Cannibal Corpse etc, even the emergence of the HAIR Bands, really made a statement for what was to come. So Actually The 90's was the best

Most definitely the 80's. Of course there was great music in the 70's but for me it was hit and miss.

I'd say the 80's. The greatest bands of all time. New Wave of British Heavy Metal, the L.A. Boom, Hair Metal, etc...
Someone is mentioning synthesizers? What about 70's disco music? Crap!!!
80's were the best in every category
Police, Men at Work, Outfield, Van Halen, Ratt, Motley Crue, Iron Maiden, Metallica, Def leppard, i can go on and on...

Both are very close, but I think 80's is a little better. The current decade is without question the worst ever musically.

The 70's of course!! Earth, Wind, and Fire, The Commodores, Kool and the Gang--that's what was up. Real instruments, no synthesizers to mask untuned voices. The 80's introduced new things to music, but the 70's was where it was at...

the 80's by far!!! genesis did alot of good work in the 70's and the cure and joy division/new order started in the 70's too
