Nudity is not obscene. Our bodies are normal and in many societies nudity is accepted and clothing is seen as obscene. Even sex should not be considered obscene.
However, violence should be.
Politicians lying should be.
Sports figures making more than everyone in a small town should be called obscene.
People arguing over religion is obscene.
Being forced to pay for an attorney in order to have a chance at a fair trial is obscene.
Children starving while we throw out enough food each day to keep most of them alive is dreadfully obscene.

So, why is nudity in art considered obscene? I believe it is planned and kept this way because it allows the greedy creeps in positions of power to operate without interference because the public is so busy bickering about the stupid small stuff (like should a breast be shown in spite of the fact that we all have them).

You are encouraged to keep your clothes on in public out of respect for others who may not wish to view your body in all its natural glory (or explain your physiology to their children). It has nothing to do with denying the intrinsic beauty of the human form.

Because art is viewed as a choice...public is NOT a choice, believe it or not...everyone has to be in public one time or another..

well, this sounds a little stupid, but i'm just being blunt here. artists are very perverted. it's also well known that they're just trying to show off their skills. it's a lot harder to draw or sculpt a nude body than a person in clothes.

actually, it's equally hard, but like i said. artists are perverted. many times in nude paintings/sculptures, the art will be a man trying to seduce a lady or something. really.

Look at yourself in a mirror. We always look better in our mind's eye.
