On trying to delete it I get a warning that is a system file. any ideas how to stop this appearing. please keep it simple

open windows explorer......tools........folder options........View........Do not Show Hidden Files....Apply........ok.........and your done........

You can delete it if you wish. It has to do with the way the Folder View is set up. It contains small thumbnails of the images in the folder and is refreshed/recreated every time you change the contents of the folder. If you delete it and open the folder in Thumbnail view again, it will create a new file.

It's for viewing image file previews. Leave it alone. It will only be recreated again anyway.
