In addition to reporting it to Mastercard, if you've lost your card or it's stolen you can report the missing card to one of the three main credit rating agencies to avoid any potential credit problems. You only need to report it to one, the other two will pick it up immediately. Also, if it's a theft and you're worried about identity theft, you can sign up for a service that will constantly monitor your credit activity and report all activity to you via email. So if someone uses your personal info to open another credit card, for instance, you'll see this immediately and be able to report it as fradulent before any harm in done.
