Climbing the spiral staircase would mean growth or Ascension. Stopping to look back over the side to see how far you have come might mean that even though you evolve, you are still hanging with, or doing something that you should forget by now, and when you are looking back that means you are having to start over each time. Is there a relationship that is going nowhere or is there some grudge you are holding, or is there something that really hurt you that you have not resolved yet, do you have any outstanding tickets or warrents? All of this would be something that would make you "Fall" back down again.

I have also. I had many dreams of falling from a spiritual staircase... only to find that GOD was there to catch my fall. And all is well.

Check out the book "The Dictionary of Dreams" available at most larger book stores. If you have a Barns and Noble you can look up the things in your dreams without having to buy the book. Just take a pencile and paper and write info down. I would leave the info here from my book but it would be too long.

The idea of failing or falling down in general scares you so much that it's showing in your dreams and subconscious.

You have to give more details about your family background..
then I may analyze better.. however,
Your dream sounds like you are in lack of feeling of security. The staircase could be a place you have been, lived. It could have been many things. However, when you say no doors, .. just get to the top. It could mean that you are looking for security or acceptance in life. - Again, since this dreams started when you are 3, - more details will be helpful.
a brief of the picture of your dream..
No door - lack of security.
Stair case going to the top - looking for acceptance.
Looking back and fall - lose confidence in family or friends.
Again, I am just doing this based on what you write so far. I could be very wrong!!

In the dream you've been having since you were three...do you grow up in the dream? Are you the age you are now when you're dreaming or are you still three?
My guess is that you have a control issue over something in your life. (The spiral stair case.) You work and work to overcome it (climbing the stairs) and when you feel you are making solid progress you look over to see how far you've come (a vanity perhaps?). The is a repeating situation in your life. Family, friends, work, the way you relate to other people. Something you are trying to change. Try and keep your self from looking over the edge in your dream. Or try keeping a journal for a couple of weeks. Put down the days events before you go to sleep. Wake up and enter the dream in as much detail as possible. Continue this exercise for a couple of weeks and then read back through everything you've written. Try and see any patterns or correlations between the dream and what happened that day or what happens on the days that you have the dream. If there is anything there figure out if it is positive or negative and than change it in whatever way that makes you feel better about the situation.

The dream can be interpreted in several ways, The information you have provided does not suffice for a qualified answer. Climbing stairs is a dream common with ambitions, but falling down need not nessasarily mean not achieving them, The dream that you have may not be discussed in public preferably cause N no of people may give you interpretations that maybe derived from anything from stephen kings novels to Sigmond Fueds interpretations. Your life style and your social make up, your age, sex, profession and your routine has to be checked and studied to give meanings to your dreams and its interpretation. Please do pray to the Almighty for his Grace before you goto sleep every day and do not worry about the dream anymore, After all God designs and decides destiny, and he can effect a change by sheer prayers, Yours is anyway not a Bad dream.
