I additionally like Stephen King and Clive Barker. Koontz has gotten faraway from horror yet a number of his previously works have been certainly spooky. It by utilising King became very tough as became The Stand and Salem's Lot. Barker's Weaveworld and Imajica have been way available yet spectacular. King's Son Joe Hill has written some Ghost memories that are spectacular. the middle shaped container will scare the pants off ya.

For stories about depression and the feeling of utter despair (such as, when there is no hope of escaping out of the dark hole that that is called LIFE) one should go to Edgar Allen Poe
BUT is no doubt that for a more modern person, Stephen King is the BEST horror writer of all time!!!

Stephen King is awesome. Dean Koontz is pretty good if you don't read a whole lot at once (all the stories started running together when I did that). Anne Rice is cool; ever tried the books she wrote under her pseudonym?

Stephen King and Dean Koontz. I find however, that after a few of those in a row- I get a bit whacked out. I have not read them for a few years now, and my brain is much happier!
