No I don't think so.
He seems to be a bit on the selfish bastard side doesn't he?
He should go just because you want to go. You are not asking him to go to craft fairs or to go antique shopping! He could give you this one thing you ask of him, it is your best friend after all.
He needs to stop being such a fellow with only one person he seriously wants to make happy,(himself) while he wants you to make this person's happiness your priority.
Turnabout is fair play and if he won't go and doesn't want to save to go with you then he is going to be on his own at home while you go party in Hawaii for a few days. He might think he won't miss you, that being without you and doing exactly what he wants for a few days is going to be heaven, but he will find out really fast all the things he counts on you to do for him.
I just would tell him I was going, if he wants to go fine, if not fine, and if he pulls any of that stuff of you won't be able to get in the door when you get back because if you go I am going to change the locks and you might as well just stay over there because we are through. Just smile at him and tell him to do what ever tricks his trigger because you are going to do what ever the hell you want to do, just like he is doing. Warn him if he changes the locks so you can't get back in or does anything so childish, he will regret it. And if he does and you can't get in, I advise that an ax costs about 20 bucks at any hard ware store and I would get into my house. with my new 20 dollar key.
YOU ARE RIGHT TO WANT TO GO. HE IS WRONG TO SAY HE ISN'T GOING WITH YOU. GO ANYWAY, IT WILL MAKE HIM THINK ABOUT STUFF A LITTLE BIT HARDER MAYBE!

How close are you to the bride or groom?
Is it a wedding you need to go to-would your absence would be an unfortunate social lapse?
In that case it would not be wrong to go without him. On the other hand:
Is he just not interested in Hawaii in general? Or is attending the wedding putting him off?
Is it the wedding you want to attend, or is it the lure of the islands? Figure out why you really want to go and find out why he doesn't want to go. Then take it from there.

No of course you're not wrong to want to go without him... But you could suggest to him 'the wedding is just one day, we could spend 3-5 romantic days together like a second honeymoon' If he says no to this, go to the wedding... and enjoy yourself, and do NOT feel guilty...

Save the money and go for a couple of days but be sure to offer to take him with you and see if he is okay with you going without him.

Well not if you've asked him already if he wants to go.
Just cuz he doesn't want to doesn't mean that you don't want to go.
Maybe giving it some time, and again talking with him letting him know how much you want to go (all your reasons) and that you'd love to be sharing all of that time with him. Maybe after seeing how you would have a better time if he was there with you, how much that would mean to you,,,, he may reconsider.

No. If you want to go then you should even if you go alone. You'll know people there once you arrive. And I wouldn't let him go after that either . His just going to fuss about ever thing while your trying to enjoy it.
