my grandfather. even though he died when I was 12, I learned a great deal from him before that. He worked for the railroad, and during the depression he would try and help the hobos who had nowhere to live but were trying to find jobs. He would let the hobos know where he lived (also there was a 'special mark' on the curb to let them know it was a hobo-friendly place) - and when they showed up my grandmother would give them soup or stew or whatever was on the stove that night - they always made extra even though they did not have much either - and then they could bed down in the old row of garages (had been stables so were open inside) in the backyard at the alley. There was a wood stove in the middle of the garages for heat in the winter and if they needed a blanket or pillow there was always a stack of them cleaned and ready on a shelf, and they were welcome to eat breakfast as well before going on their way in their efforts to try and find work. He also took in his wife's 2 sisters, one who was severely retarded after a childhood illness and the other who had never married. Back then it was very difficult for women to have anything of their own. He was kind, generous, quiet natured, and looked for the good in people, and I try to have those same qualities in my life. It has been since 1964 that he died, and I still remember him well.

My Mom, because she has always been there for me when I needed her. She has always worked hard, been an honest person, taught me to be strong and follow my dreams, and shaped the person I am. I love and respect her very much.
My daughter, whom I love to distraction, because she has shown me the things I had forgotten and made my world a new and wonderful place! My life has never been the same since she came into it.

My mom and my fiance'
because my mom struggled allot in life, and yet still had the time to take care of me all by herself and she rarely complained about it!
my fiance, because he has been through a lot... pancreatitis, many surgeries, hospital stays, getting sick dealing with pain, taking many medications and he still goes on and tries his hardest to do everything he can. He stays active and fun and lives life instead of wallowing in misery!

My Mom taught, showed and LIVED an exemplary life of hard work, patience, stewardship and love. My whole family owes much of who they are, today, to her and the example she set for us.
And we will NEVER forget.
And secondly..... ......B... .....who taught me to question myself and the things I think, feel and love......allowing them to grow deeper.
