Large numbers of asteroids and comets could collide with Earth, making the task of astronomers trying to find and keep track of all of them very difficult. Studies suggest that during the next 500 years more than one thousand of these small objects, with energies greater than that of the nuclear weapons dropped on Japan in World War II, will hit Earth.

Yes their is a good chance of an asteroid hitting the earth. It will happen tomorrow in the very spot you are standing in.

100% it has already happened. however, most asteroids are small enough to burn up in the atmosphere. That's really what most meteorites are. Eventually, though nobody is sure when, one large enough to do damage will hit. Lets hope that by then, nasa or one of their competators will have figured out how to deflect it.

it's a radio show, so I don't know what station it's on in your area. In LA it is on am 640. There was a near collision a few months ago.

There is always a possibility. That doesnt mean it will. If it does, it does. Thinking about stuff like that is a waste.
