I would assume you would say how you were doing.. you know.. what your life is like.. any major things going on in life that they might not know about..... just think from your perspective.. if you havent talked to someone and you wanted to know how they were doing in life what would be things you would be waiting to hear?

general lingo on the internet is "hows it going"
as in RL if some one you havent seen in weeks asks you "hows it going" what do you tell them??
do they really want to know how it is going or kicking up casual confersation.... think about it

tell them the truth...what you've been up to, anyone you've seen lately that you both know, remind the person of a funny memory including you both. This person used to be your friend, so be yourself! : )
