I don't think any site is safer then another. Because people can pose to be anyone they want and drag any info out of you over time. Please be very very careful when you post anything on the web. The most dangorous thing bout posting a profile is how many identifing things people post on it w/o even realizing it. Good luck to you. I know it sucks when everyone else gets to do things that you can't. My mom was strict also, but it really is just because they love you and don't want anything to happen to you. :)

I think your parents would totally agree on this online activity... Try VMK.com. It's a virtual Disneyland where you can make an avatar which looks kind of like you (like on yahoo) which is your character and you can make them walk around a virtual Disneyland. You can make a profile and interact with other people on the site also. I think the site closes at a certain time, though, so it might actually be closed right now. It opens everyday though and is really fun. You can even play games on VMK.com. Try it out!
For your parent's info, you can tell them that there are no bad words allowed and are filtered automatically, there are staff members always watching what goes on while VMK members are interacting with one another (they wont even let you tell anyone your age as it is blocked out as you type it and they will kick you offline for a few minutes if you disobey any rules), and there are many other safety features including the curfew closing time around 10 or 11pm.
I think your parents would like this site. Hope you have fun!
