Guus Hiddink is the Dutch coach of the Australian national team. After the World Cup he will go on to be the coach of the Russian national team.
He was a player mainly with De Graafschap (dutch team) and started his coaching carreer with them as well in 1982. In 1984 he moved to top dutch team PSV with whom he won the Champions League in 1988. After that he was also coach of Fenerbahce (Tur) and Valencia (Spain). In 1994 he took over as coach of the Dutch national team and reached second round at the European Championships in 1996 and 4th place at the World Cup in 1998. Then he became coach of Real Madrid and Betis Sevilla before joining the South Koreans as their coach (he built a completely new team) and again reached the 4th place at the 2002 WC. Renamed by the South Koreans Hi-Ding Gu. The World Cup Stadium in Gwangju was re-named Guus Hiddink Stadium. Guus has still a high profile in Korea, as well as many commercial adventures. Also he and his partner have a prgram in South Korea to help poor children. After that he went back to his old love PSV Eindhoven and saw them through to the semifinals of the Champions League in 2004/05 season. He also won a couple of National Championships. In the 2005/2006 season he was coach both of PSV as well as the Australian National Team. Jason Culina must have thought that was great, he played for both teams!
Guus Hiddink is one of the most respected coaches around, with an impressive list of successes. At the beginning of last season he almost quit the soccer scene when he and his family were threated through bullets in the mail when PSV thought about buying a player from Ajax Amsterdam. PSV did not pursue this on Guus' request.

Dutchman took Korea to World Cup semi finals in 2002. Offered Korean citizenship as a reward but turned it down - no tax incentives!
Still a living God to all Koreans.

Actually Korea does not allow dual citizenship, so he would have had to rennounce his dutch citizenship to gain the Korean one.
