try cleaning and check to see if any key is depressed

I think that you will notice that some of your keys have a tiny green, maybe, marking on the bottom of the key. That's so you can change your keyboard to do different things. To turn them on and off you press the function key or Fn button, after pressing it try typing something and see if it fixes it. It happened to my thinkpad once.

There may be dust particles trapped in your keyboard which depress more than one key when a single key is pressed.

You can remove any particles with a compressed air gun.

all the other answers are correct,one more possablity,
if you have a microphone hooked up it will cause some programs to type letters and numbers.unplug mic and see if that helps

try cleaning it really well. If you have ever spilled something on it or dropped anything into it that could be the problem.

theyare sticking, get a can of air and blow them out, if that doesn't help, you need to get a new keyboard for it
