Does it increase of decrease the risk of cetrain cancers?I'm 18 and really want to get on it but my mother had breast cancer meaning I'm more likely to get it and I've heard that the pill inceases the risk of it as well.Any advice would be greatly appriciated.

I have never heard of the pill increasing your risk of cancer, you'd have to ask a doctor about that. It does increase your risk of blood clots, especially if you smoke. The pros are: not getting pregnant, regulated periods and not having to worry about whether you have a condom or not. The cons are: having to remember to take it every day, and price (insurance may or may not cover).

some cons are: weight gain/decrease, nauseous,light headed.if you forget to take it one day you'll feel sick the whole day.
pros: no baby,face clears up (from pimples/acne.)
if you're not planning on having a baby within the next 2 yrs. your best option would be Depo-provera (the shot) .shot can range from $30-70 a shot. every 3 months.
given on your arm or butt every 11 to 20 weeks. and the longer you use get the shot the less you are likely to have a baby. for some women it could take upto a yr. to conceive after your last shot.so think about it. and good luck. im going through the same problem.

wow...you need to go to the library...
pros: prevents pregnancy 98% of the time, grows super fine rose bushes
cons: accelerates some cancers (especially breast), implicated in blood clots in the lungs for women and those who smoke especially.
ask your doctor to check you for the breast cancer gene. if you come back positive, you may even want to go ahead and have a mastectomy before you get cancer...or at least be more vigilant and do a mammo (MRI) every 6 months and a SBE every time you shower, and not every 30 days...good luck

if cancer runs in your family you could get it anyway . the pill doesn't increase your chances of cancer .it keep you from having baby's . i know a lot of people who have been on the pill and they had know problems with it .

I know it increases risk for both ovarian and cervical cancer, but dunno about breast. If it runs in the family, definately run it by a doctor whom knows what he/she is talking about.
