i do, my husband nags at me also. i think i do it so i can listen better in case someone is behind me and i can't see them because they are in a blind spot.

I am sure you are not the only one who does that. In the morning I will not let my daughter start her CD's in the car until I have backed out of the driveway. Also if she asks me to turn up the volume of the radio, it has to wait until I am out of reverse.

It's not weird - a lot of accidents happen when someone is backing up, so it sounds like a good safety measure.

my aunt does that. i think it's because she thinks that she needs to hear if cars are coming (but she could just look in the rearview mirror). tell ur husband that he's weird too and that u aren't the only one! :)

I don't really do it when I am backing up, but I have a tendency to do it when I am looking for a turnoff, place I've never been; etc.
