First, time in education is never a good way to make a decision when selecting a career. Most will tell you to do what want to do to be happy. Interestingly, most people do like money. Since your question specifically addresses three different career choices, the best choice is to be a doctor. Why? The US Dept. of Labor estimates that there will be a decrease in the number of doctors over the next 10 or more years. The reasons are complex but a couple of reasons are that US students are falling behind in the sciences and as you said, school is expensive. But both reasons have solutions. The first is too easy...Study. HARD! The second is easy too. There are many ways to fund college and medical school these days, it's not like the money has to come out of your pocket. There are all kinds of government grants, loans and programs to choose from. Speaking of money. Think of all the money you can make even if you charge your patients as little as possible. You will not have to compete as a doctor (except for positions and residencies). In law you must specialize to make any money or be a damn good ambulance chaser and I do not know many economics majors that have jobs!

Medicine is very rewarding and your ability to memorize will help you immensely with medical school. But, more importantly, to go into medicine, you have to REALLY like science. It gets really difficult once you get into college. I was a pre-med major in undergrad and we used to have a saying, "Biology is really chemistry, chemistry is really physics, and physics is really math." So, if you don't like chemistry, physics, and math, you will really hate pre-med (no matter how much you like biology now).
I ended up going to law school after working in a genetics lab for a while. Law school was A LOT of politics. Also, if you're a memorizer, you are NOT going to do well in law school- law school is all about learning the process. Law school was very competitive and good people did not always do well (those that act like jerks tended to get ahead). I am currently looking for a job and it is impossible in this crumby economy. There are so many new lawyers out there looking for jobs and it is very hard for me to find one (even though I did very well in school). I would definitely consider that before deciding to become a lawyer.

Medicine is very competitive right now (3.5 GPA to be considered). It is a lucritive career however.
As for the other two I don't know. Law is alot of memorizing and finding loop holes and econ is a bunch of numbers.
Be a couch potato and play the lottery lol

It is important to pick a career that will be in high demand in the future and afford you the lifestyle you want. Healthcare:
Administration, Nursing, Physical Health, Dentistry, Mental Health all are expected to continue growing at a faster than average rate

any career is stressful. If you want to take medicine it requires good decision making skills and for law it requires good arguing skills and for you to lie a bit and face up to the some guilt i guess. Economics is all about scarcity, opportunity costs, markets and demands blah blah, i find it boring really. your perspective, your choice.

Do whatever you want, not what others want of you. You will be in this career for your life, most likely, so you'd better like it. Which one do you like the best, regardless of the cost or the stress? In which one do you see yourself in 10 years? Which one would you be happiest in? You've got to take control of your life instead of letting others make decisions for you.

do something you like doing(also helps if your good at it). Don't take something you'll regret in the future. If it helps a lot of people are attracted to medical people, I think it has to do with the uniform.
