1.not frequently: I have first visited a chat room just to see what it was all about...and then I liked it and became a regular before the novelty wore off
2.less than a hour a month now...but used to be 2-3 hours a day
3. people that regularly come to the chat room
4. this depends on a number of things. If you are a child, then it is not wise to meet people from a chat room, because many times the other person is pretending to be a child when in fact it is a perverted adult. When you are an adult, then you need to exercise caution when meeting someone from a chat room, you need to chat to them on the phone first and agree to meet in a public place, and you need to let someone know where you are going and who with...even better get a friend to call you when you're out so you can alert them if something feels suspicious.Everyone seems to think that meeting people from internet chat rooms is the most dangerous thing in the world, when in fact it is no more dangerous than meeting someone through a dating agency or a lonely hearts ad in a magazine...you just need to be cautious and use common sense.
Good luck with your project.

Question one:I used to visit chat rooms, I never visit chat rooms now, because when I did , few years ago, people used to get in and be abusive.
Question two: I chat IM maybe one hour on weekends.
Question 3 : I chat with people from my country (Venezuela), just Friends and family.
Question 4: I think it's OK, if you don't give too much personal information. until you are sure who you are talking to. About 6 years ago I used to chat a lot and I met good friends, who I met in real life and we are still good Friends now, But sometimes it could be dangerous, especially for children.

No, I do not frequently visit chat rooms. I dislike the poor language and attitude of the people I meet that way. If I do chat using Yahoo! Instant Messenger or Skype, I prefer to chat one-on-one with a person so that I can get to know them.
My job requires me to use Skype to chat with my colleagues and I chat with my best friend, who lives far away from me, on Yahoo! Messenger. I chat with them approximately 2 hours total in a week.
I met my husband through the Internet. We chatted for many, many hours on Yahoo! Messenger. One night we chatted for over 6 hours! Then we made many telephone calls and wrote letters to one another. Only after several months did we decide to meet. I then spent several months getting to know him in person. Only then did I marry him.
I would have to say that chatting worked out in my case; however, I am still very wary of meeting strangers in person that I have met on the Internet. I used every safety precaution I could think of using before I traveled to meet my husband in person. Luckily for the both of us it worked out for the best.

I have in the past, but not lately. We'd chat to get together and discuss things we had talked about on message boards, and talk about people we didn't like posting there.
When we got going, we would chat for hours! We usually lost track of the time.
I chatted only with people I had talked to on message boards, so we shared a common interest.
Generally, probably not wise.I only met people after I'd talked to them for a couple years on the net.
