I spent quite a number of years in the Far East: Japan, Vietnam, Thailand, Malyasia, Korea, Cambodia, Laos, Indonesia, The Philippines, etc. Some of the things which impressed me about most Asian cultures:
* The formalized systems ot politeness and respect.
* The high regard in which most older people are held.
* The industriousness of most of the people.
* The great respect for learning and education.
Some of the things that were less enjoyable, at least to Western eyes:
* The overcrowding in many cities.
* The ( to Western tastes ) less than sanitary conditions, particularly in restaurants.
* In some countries, the grinding poverty of many of the people.
* Some of the foods seemed a bit alien to Western tastes.
All in all, I hold most Asians in rather high regard.

OK by me. The Asians I know are good, hard working people. The language and culture barriers are too much for some people to handle, but instead of focusing on the differences, we should focus on what we have in common - that's usually a good starting point.

i live in an area where there are a lot of asian immigrants from different parts of asia. i'm coming to realized that asia is a huge place with many different cultures.
western society has a lot of stupid stereotypes, but i'm sure the rest of the world has stereotypes about the West.
one thing: a lot of the West thinks about Japan more than any other asain country, thanks to consumer electronics, anime, and sushi.
p.s. i <3 thai food. and chop sticks beat a fork any day.

they rock my sock. i want to go to japan, and thailand. not china, vietnam, or korea, they're a bunch of communists. but i do love chinese food, there's this this chinese restaurant in a town near where i live, it's awesome, they've got the buffet tables I pile my plate up with noodles and sticky rice and and dive in with my chopsticks. only problem was my hands were shaking today, made it hard to eat. I think i should learn karate, kung fu, tae kwon do, jeet kun do, aikido, ninjitsu, bojitsu, or something like that. ah i'll just carry a pistol when im 21 its easier. i do want a katana though, one that i could actually fight with. live steel. or maybe a pair of kamas, those are awesome. oooo.... a gundam, nothin better than a giant robot. then i can have a fight with Ultra Man. ha ha ha.

I have lived in Japan, so I will only answer about Japanese. They are very polite and trusting! Some of the most courteous drivers I've encountered anywhere. They are concerned about where everyone fits in society. They take education very seriously, and respect their elders.

Honestly, I have always been fascinated by the Japanese culture and I still am. I have no problem with Asians and wouldn't mind seeing a few more in my community.
And .. I'm sorry but asian girls are kinda hot.

I have no particular perceptions of Asians. There are a ton of them in southern California, where I spend a lot of my time and I treat them like everyone else - as individuals.
