Worry about yourself. Don't try to carry the weight of the world on your shoulders, it'll get to heavy!

So at the very same time, there are others who are fed up with people who cares too much. This is life. Everyone is different (that's good isn't it).
At the end of the day, if helping others make you feel good, continue doing so. But you should not have the expectation that others will pay it back. If these guys let you down, the more you should help them. Take pride in the fact that you can make a difference. Hopefully, someday they will learn.

Your behavior is actually somewhat common. You likely have a low self-worth, and you feel that other people are more important than you. That's partially why you help people and they don't appreciate it.
No one appreciates a doormat. People appreciate strong, independent, and confident people.
Examine your reasons for helping others - I mean, really, really think about why you do it. If it really is your nature, that is awesome - but helping others should NOT involve you getting hurt.
Also, because you likely have a low self-worth, you may be attracting and associating with others that have self-esteem issues, etc., and they are just using your kindness to feel better, and then "discarding" you when they are done.
From what you wrote, you sound like you have a lot more going for you than many people - you just need to realize you're just as good as anyone else.
DO NOT accept poor treatment from anyone, especially ones you gave help to!
