In a retrospective study conducted in two teaching hospitals in Teheran, records of 573 preterm infants were reviewed. The birth weights ranged between 500 and 2500 grams, and the gestational ages between 24 and 36 weeks. This study indicated that the expected survival rate of neonates was greatly influenced by a gestational age of more than 32 weeks and a birth weight exceeding 1250 grams. The youngest surviving neonate was a female whose gestational age was 26-27 weeks and birth weight 1500 grams. The smallest surviving (in weight) was a female infant of 750 grams and a gestational age of 28-29 weeks. This study revealed that an increase in the age and weight of preterm neonates leads to a rapid decline in mortality rate.

I googled it, and this is what I found. It's about what I expected. The earliest gestational age I've heard of to survive is 22 weeks, but that doesn't happen very often. Also, when they survive at that stage, they usually have considerable medical issues.

At 24 weeks many newborn babies in the UK will survive – some in good health, some with developmental problems, some with the need for long-term support and treatment. Some babies have been kept alive earlier even than this.

Theresa said it best. The natural parents and the adoptive parents signed a contract with the adoption agency. Adoptees in 44 states are held bound by decision made about them as children for eternity. Here are some things that American adoptive parents should be concerned about. 1. Without the OBC, adoptees are not being allowed to join the military. They can't prove their birth. 2. Without the OBC, adoptees are not able to get passports. They can't prove their birth. 3. States are going to a voter identification by presenting their birth certificates. Indiana just had this go to the Supreme Court. Missouri and a couple of other states are looking into this. Most people have never seen an amened birth certificate. Many amended birth certificates are not complete. Mine isn't. I won't be able to vote soon. They will want me to prove my birth. When the privacy of a natural mother violates my rights as an American citizen, then I get mad. I fight back.
