The first time I looked myself up online, I found out I'm a racehorse. LOL
Where are you looking? I own a house, so I can find info about myself on the county property appraiser's site. I have a speeding ticket, so I show up in the country court records system. I have a website now, so that shows up when I search for my name. I write DVD reviews for a website, so my name shows up there as well.
So, what have you done? What do you own? Do you use your real name or various screen names and IDs? Is anyone out there posting stuff about you - well, do they use your real name or a nickname?
Try searching for your name in combination with other items, like the city you're from, your school or work, your hobbies.
Is your phone in your name? If so, it might show up on a Google search, but I don't think cell phones are listed.
Try using Zabasearch and see if you turn up there. That one has addresses and phone numbers, sometimes going back several years.
Have you ever been on the news or in the newspaper? Try searching in GoogleNews.
There is a lot of valid stuff about people out there - sometimes. It all depends on what sort of trail they are leaving behind. If they have an unlisted number or only use a cell, rent a house or live with their parents, have no criminal record - then it's a lot harder to find anything out about them.
I work at a TV station; sometimes I use the internet to try to track down someone we want to do a story on. Like the other day, a student won a national competition, and I wanted to find her. But, since she's a high school student, I didn't find much about her. Kids are often careful about how they post online, because of sexual predators and such. I couldn't find anyone of her last name listed in the phone book for her community. But I did find several references to the work she does in the community and previous honors she's received. I was using her first and last name and the city she lives in, because that's all I had to search with.
If it's important to you to turn up in vanity searches, well then, start posting more stuff online. Start a website. Contribute to other websites. I wouldn't advise starting a criminal record just to get on the internet, though. :)

Because your personal information is private. Sometimes, you can look people up on the internet on certain websites and find the same things you would find in a telephone directory...other than that, you're a nobody on the internet...unless you have made a webpage with your name in it *shrugs*
