Avast has a scanner and virus cleaner. You have to have the free home edition anti-virus software though. I really like this one. I had a win32.sasser on mine and it washed it right out and restored some files. My PC is running smoother now. It also has a kick a$$ database update. The only thing that it doesn't seem to be compatible with is the Adaware software. But that is because it is a data miner. AND on the plus side of things, both the anti-virus and the cleaner are totally free. Yeah, I have the Adaware SE on my computer too. But you can set it up to accept the program as safe file.

Pitstop would scan but wouldn't enable you to clean. If you try Mcaffee (http://www.mcaffee.com) they usually have a spontaneous scan which is easy and manageable. You can choose which disks/ directories/ partitions/ folders to scan. Best free anti virus software is even better as it provides you with all solutions in addition to scanning. You can try Avast anti-virus which is the best I have tried in past three years. Its interface and range of activities is comprehensive but its user friendly. That means morons like myself don't encounter any difficulty. Its cool to look at even.
Good luck:)

Don`t let anyone give your computer a so called free scan. Your just opening up your computer to spy ware. Go with the freeware downloads that were recommended.

Sometimes you can get virus software free from your internet service provider. For example, i have Brighthouse and I am thus able to download their anti virus software free from their website. Good luck.
