the truth that can cause a tear, because a lie may bring a smile, but for how long? in the end somehow the lies will be found out and that is more devasting than being told the truth in the first place? if you have done wrong to a person and tell them as soon as possible , they will be able to at least trust that you would tell them when you done wrong, but if a person/s lied to you not to hurt you and you found out 4 years on would you trust them again?

The truth is always the better way to go. Even if it draws a tear, it will only hurt once. Lies always find their way back to you. When that happens, they are hurt because you lied then hurt because it wasn't the truth. At least with the truth, you hurt once and that's it.

A truth that draws a tear. You don't have to listen to lies anymore, and can go on with your life.

The truth shall set you free. There is a theory of "Nver let the truth stand in the way of a good story", but I would rather know for certain, regardless the consequences.

"Know this above all things, to your own self be true". A lie is just a lie, and the truth always trumps the lie. Time tells a tale baby!

Well..according to Islam, you are allowed to lie if your lie will reconcilliate between two friends who has broken off their relationship, or even a husband and wife. For example....it is allowed to tell two parties in conflict that one cannot wait to meet the other as they have forgiven each other.

What about the lie that sheds a tear because someone trusted you and they found out you were lying? IMHO, in any relationship, friend, lover, whatever, if you don't have trust, you don't have anything.
