If you have diabetes, there are simple steps you can take to manage it. The National Diabetes Education Program suggests that you can reduce your risk of heart disease and stroke by working with your healthcare team to monitor three critical factors, which they have named the Diabetic ABC's. A is for the A1C test. This is a number that shows how well your blood glucose has been controlled over the last 3 months and should be checked at least twice a year. B is for blood pressure. The goal for most people is 130/80. And C is for cholesterol. Bad cholesterol (LDL) can oxidize and clog blood vessels, causing heart attack or stroke, while good cholesterol (HDL) helps to lower bad cholesterol. The goal for most people is LDL under 100 and HDL over 40.
Goji can help. This tiny red fruit has been used in China for the treatment of diabetes for many years, and its polysaccharides have been shown to help balance blood sugar and insulin response. It also contains betaine, which can prevent fatty liver disease and vascular damage often seen in diabetics. Goji also assists in weight loss by enhancing the conversion of food into energy instead of fat, and it increases exercise tolerance, stamina and endurance.
Usual dosage levels: For diabetes, research suggests a usage of 2 ounces of high-quality standardized goji juice, taken twice daily at mealtime for a total daily intake of 4 ounces. According to American Diabetes Association guidelines, 2 ounces of goji juice is equivalent to two-thirds of a fruit exchange.

I am non insulin dependent diabetic with an A1C of 5.9. Also, have arthritis. I take naproxen sodium or motrin IB. Only take once a day. Check with your Dr. We are each different. My Dr. said I could take either one. I have noticed that when I eat fresh tomatoes my arthritis flares up. Also, since I stopped eating meat 8 yrs. ago the arthritis got better. I have osteo arthritis. Don't know what you jave.

please consult your endocrinologist. is your blood sugar controlled? ask your endocrinologist to to recommend you to a good rheumatologist. there are several kinds of arthritis and you need to pinpoint the source to prevent flare-ups. if you use pain-killers, it will numb the pain for a maximum of 12 hours but the pain will come back after that. i do not recommend you to self medicate by using otc (over the counter drugs). supervision is the key especially for you who has diabetes. some medications would actually worsen your condition especially if you have accompanying renal or hepatic problems.
