Check this out. The Liberals are against individualism because they can't control you as easily if you are not one of the sheep.
If you are better at what you do than someone else, you may hurt someone's feelings. Don't be a winner.
If you get better grades in school, some other student will have low self-esteem. Don't be smart.
If you have a business and do well, you will have more than you deserve. Don't be successful.
If you love your country and believe in the rule of law and not in the rule of lawyers, you are heartless, or racist or sexist or homophobic or ....... Well, you get the idea. Don't disagree with them.
And that Socialism crap they seem to want doesn't work, like you say, but please, don't be too hard on the poor. If they just can't make it, even though they try, they deserve a hand up until they can get on their feet. It's nothing to do with stupidity, only effort. God helps those who help themselves. So do I.

Every thing you get in terms of health care is determined by insurance Many poor people work from sun up to sun set and do not make enough money for health care. Keep in mind that a catastrophic illness can wipe out everything you have saved an plunge you into debt; God forbid. You seem to be very naive. Canada and many European Countries, which are not socialist governments have done well with socialized medicine. If you feel this way, perhaps you should avoid using the postal service. It is a great example of how a service run by the government is accessible and affordable to everyone. Since you are against the government operating services. Buy a horse and run across the country delivering and picking up your mail. Only problem is, roads and highways are tax supported, so stay off of them.

First of all, the definition of individualism can be interpreted in different ways. At one extreme is true individualism which is another word for anarchy. No government, no laws, no society. Just you. I'm sure you don't mean to use the word this way, so I'm going to have to say that your definition implies liberty, opportunity and responsibility within the framework of a greater society from which you will need to support you (i.e. roads, schools, police, fire, medical aid, etc...)
Now, let's get to your question. First off, most democrats are politically moderate. Second our Constitution is a liberal document which protects individuals from government abuse of its power. Third, in the last five years (and going back to the 1980s) we have seen an erosion of liberty and a curtailing of individual rights by our government. The main document that is doing this is the Patriot Act.
People who give away their liberty for security deserve neither and once you give away part of your liberty there is nothing to stop the government from taking it all away.

You and I are already paying for the under-insured through higher insurance premiums. When someone can't pay their hospital bill the hospital recoups their loss by increasing the cost of all other procedures. They then pass along those increased costs to the insurance companies, which pay them and then recoup that cost by increasing your premiums. The problem is that both of those institutions must maintain a profit margin to appease investors and thus the costs passed on to you and I aren't net losses but net losses plus profit loss. The argument for single-payer medical care is that it will actually cost you less in the long run because everyone will be insured (as noted above they already are through YOU"RE insurance premiums), but you won't have to pay for lost profit, lawyers and litigation to go after the non-payers, the higher cost of credit due to medical care forced personal bankruptcy, etc. For a little money up front you save a lot in the end. That's why people want your so-called "socialized" medicine

Because Democratic Liberals are Communists and they want everyone to think the same way, not to mention they don't wanna hear what the people want.
Instead they wanna tell the people what to want and get all so mad when regular people like me refuse to want what they tell us to want.
Not to mention I am so sick of Liberals like Michael Moore claiming to care for the Poor when such Wealthy Liberals who claim the Taxes should be higher are actually hiring Lawyers and Accountants to lower their Taxes and instead of donating to the Poor people they claim to care for they use that Money to get Drunk on very Expensive French Wine.
Michael Moore claimed he did not make enough from Fahrenheit 9/11 to help wounded Soldiers but I say that is bull cause he was already worth $100 Million Dollars.
Oh yeah Michael Moore ripped Bush apart over Carlyle even though the Bush family severed ties with that after finding out Bin Laden has money in it, but guess what Michael Moore has money in Carlyle and so do several other Democrats like George Soros (who vowed to spend his Forture defeating Bush but is still very Rich).
Michael Moore ripped Cheney apart over Halliburton but Moore has money in that.
Then again the Democrats have the mentality of Do as I say not as I do.
Loads of Democrats in the Clinton era and under Bush before going to War all said Saddam Hussein was a threat.
John Kerry once said if you think Saddam is not a threat ya shouldn't vote for me as Senator.

Here we go with the socialism!!
This is my definition of a Liberal!!
Liberalism is an ideology, philosophy, and political tradition that holds liberty as the primary political value. Broadly speaking, liberalism seeks a society characterized by freedom of thought for individuals, limitations on power, especially of government and religion, the rule of law, the free exchange of ideas, a market economy that supports relatively free private enterprise, and a transparent system of government in which the rights of minorities are guaranteed. In modern society, liberals favour a liberal democracy with open and fair elections, where all citizens have equal rights by law and an equal opportunity to succeed.
My definition of your party is this:
Fascism is a radical authoritarian political philosophy that combines elements of corporatism, totalitarianism, extreme nationalism, militarism, anti-communism and anti-liberalism.
The Rich don't pay taxes so quit trying to pull that BS. Oil Corps pay 2.1% of their profits in tax! Can I get that deal??

To a liberal, individualism is the kiss of death. Don't believe, check the Daily news in 12 major cities, identical. Check CSPAN, 1, 2 or CNBC, ALL Liberal politicians spout the SAME IDENTICAL MANTRAS. It is Liberals, whatever there party that are in lock step. While Republicans will fight it out for Core principals, Liberals don't have any. They have been saying for over a year that they will tell us their core values, and what they stand for and not a peep.

They are against many things.
•attack American traditions, specifically Christian traditions and the traditional American family
•engage in "get-even" policies that support discrimination when it benefits historically disadvantaged groups
•punish and/or discourage achievement through taxation and fiscal policies
•use the rulings of the Judicial branch of the government as de facto law, irrevocable by anything short of Constitutional amendment or a future court ruling, thus bypassing the legislative process. Roe V. Wade is the most frequently cited example of "judicial activism".
•weaken the military strength and morale of the country by vilifying the practice of armed combat and hesitating to use force when it appears necessary
•use regulatory bodies over private enterprise to accomplish social goals and restrict competition (government, education, labor)
•establish secular and progressive social policy, including support for gay marriage, abortion, liberal drug policy, euthanasia and prostitution legalization.
•implement a foreign policy supporting the protection of human rights and multiculturalism through activism and social intervention.
