I was shocked, I brought a dvd for my family to watch
My two year old loved it, but my eight year old was like it's a kitty movie.
I was like what? whatever, this movie is the bomb
She is getting older, but come on I thought that everyone loved the Wiz of Oz!
do you like the movie, and what age group was it not appealing to you?

This movie is a classic & I think it appeals to all ages. It brings home a great point, that sometimes the things that we are searching for are in our own back yard and we don't need to search that hard for them. That is a good lesson if you're 5 or 50.
Off the topic a little bit...the ORIGINAL reel of the Wizard of Oz is kept in the salt mines of my hometown, Hutchinson Kansas, along w/ other important historical artifacts :). The salt mines have very low humidity so it is able to preserve things very well.

The Wizard of Oz is a classic for all ages. I loved it as a kid, and I still love it at 38. My 17 year old also loves it. Don't feel bad.

I'm 45 and I've loved it since i was a kid. It's still my all time favorite movie.
It's probably dated for kids today because it's not the animated action every second thriller that has been pushed at kids recently.
If you compare it to those it's much more cerebral and today's family movies may have a moral story, but again it's more of an action based thriller.

I'm 28, love the movie though don't watch it every year on tv. I love looking for the hanged man, and also it does go very creepily in sync with Pink Floyd's Dark Side of the Moon. *chills*

I LOVED it, and I still do. I think I first saw it when I was nine and I thought it was really cool.
Then my little brother saw it when he was six and he was scared of the flying monkeys, but loved the rest.
The Wizard of Oz is a CLASSIC. It is essential for growing up, haha.

Your 8 year old is likely spending too much time playing video games. So anything that isn't totally interactive is boring to them.
