cuz ppl are racist against poor black people

Actually, I asked a very similar question in the Government section. The answers to my question ranged from Racist to Oil to denial.
There is a very negative connotation associated with Africa. The Tribal wars and genocide are ignored by the world "Powers" and leading the pack is the U.S. !!!! To a point, I believe Africa is ignored because it "Doesn't affect us" attitude of the U.S.. Also, I believe that "Rich America" contributes to the negative media about Africa because they associate the poor black here in the U.S. with that of Africa. Yet, they forget that there is the poor white, Hispanic, and other races here in the U.S.
Recently, on the news, Bill Gates announced his retirement and that he is going to build Hospitals in Africa. I think this is one person who could use his clout to change our view Africa. He could high-light the positive aspects of Africa and it's culture.

In gaining independence from the EUROPEAN colonists (who should be responsible for correcting the harm done by colonialism) Africans often went into racist modes in order to get elected etc. and in order to throw white Europeans out of Africa. The backlash from the west is almost totally to leave Africa (sub-Saharan) to fend for itself. Conditions of poverty and disease there have sky rocketed. No profit to be gained for contracting for stuff in Africa? No corporate investment. Gates is going to build hospitals? Excellent and he is a very good man. But the African governments may very well seize these hospitals as soon as they are operating so they can control the benefits and take credit for the hospitals.

Why do you say that? Show all of us EVERYTHING associated with Africa that has a negative connotation. If YOU haven't found ONE (association) with a positive connotation, then YOU are either not looking or are twisting the truth.

For the racists, it does. Because Africa is inhabited mostly by black people. But for healthy people (my opposite of racist) Africa is just one more continent. Probably a bit too hot for my taste, but that's all.

not everything... there are alot of postives too about Africa... the people like Gandhi, Nelson Mandela etc. and the beautiful land/wildlife in the diff. countries....
