Mexico really isn't that bad off. It ranks 53rd of 177 nations according to the Human Development Index and has improved 18% since 1975, much more than the US's 8.8%. Further, it ranks 7th of 22 countries in the continental Americas. Also, it ranks 12th in the world by GDP and 64th by GDP per capita, just below average for the world.

Even the most richest country for its natural resources (like most in the south asia) could be the poorest country in the world if:
1.They really don't have the ability to manage it.
2.Narrow nationalism, which they refuse the help of the other country to manage it.
3.Corruption from the highest to the lowest government level.
4.Domination of a religion could be a rock of managing the wealth.

It's government is even more selfish and greedy then ours is and that's hard to beat.
The government pockets ALL the profits and does nothing for it's impoverish people at all.
Then they send their people here to take away our jobs no matter how low their wages are and complain that we are mistreating them and yet they collect all they can from OUR government and we the people have to go without just to satisfy those sick government officials in Mexico.
They will never change and that's why we can't allow any illegals into this country at all.
Send them back with the same amount of money in their pockets as they came here with which is $00.00 and that way we won't have to spend any more money of ours to get rid of them once and for all.
Let their own government know that we won't support them any more then they will.
They sneak in they can sneak out as well.

Because life seems better in the US to people from mexico, and you can make more money here than in mexico. Some just come here to work and send the money to their familes. I knew a couple of mexicans who have done this. You could say the same about America. And life is getting better in mexico, but not fast enough for some people.

Natural resources doesn't necessarily guarantee a strong economy, especially if you have corporations and corrupt government officials sucking up most of the profit. It's why Boliva and Venezuela have recently seized control of their natural gas and oil resources to renegotiate deals with foreign corporations that are operating on their soil. They are trying to make sure the people benefit more.

Mexico STAYS the way it is because USA absorbs its surplus population. If we actually secured the border, it would be like putting the lid on a pressure cooker and Mexico could finally have the REVOLUTION it so desperately needs.

I'm all for it.

Unfortunately, there's a North American Union in the works.

Only one reason...corruption. Mexico has a strict class system. And the upper classes make sure that the lower classes never evolve into a middle class by making sure the economy is dysfunctional.

Mexicans are not working to repair their country. The safety valve of sneaking into the US keeps them from being "stuck" in Mexico and realizing they have to fix it themeselves.

I believe once we get our new border plan in full effect, you will see a positive side effect of Mexicans working harder to to cleanse their own country of corruption.
