In Islam, we believe that before the Coming back of Jesus Christ, A man by the name of Muhammad or Ahmed ibn Abdullah will come. He is Al-Mahdy, which literally means the rightly guided one.
He will come and Rule for 7 years. and it is during that time that Allah Promises Islam victory.
He will be the Khalifa. and is the link between the major and minor signs of the coming of the day of Judgment.
and he will meet Isa bin Maryam (alayhil sallam)- Jesus (peace be upon him) and that Isa will pray behind him.
and we know this from a hadith, which says that Isa will come down and Al-Mahdi will step back to let him lead. but Isa will say no, the Iqqamah was made for you. Iqqamah is what is said right before the prayer starts to gather people to pray behind the imam.
