Entirely unique on this planet, the Pronghorn's scientific name, Antilocapra americana, means "American antelope goat." But the deer-like Pronghorn is neither antelope nor goat -- it is the sole surviving member of an ancient family dating back 20 million years.

The Pronghorn is the only animal in the world with branched horns (not antlers) and the only animal in the world to shed its horns, as if they were antlers. The Pronghorn, like sheep and goats, has a gall bladder, and like giraffes, lacks dewclaws. If that weren't enough, the Pronghorn is the fastest animal in the western hemisphere, running in 20-foot bounds at up to 60 miles per hour. Unlike the Cheetah, speedburner of the African plains, the Pronghorn can run for hours at quite a fast pace.

I believe this is the animal you are refering too but how you can call it ugly is beyond me - they are lovely creatures and truly the definition of grace!

I'd say a moose. In fact, one time while I was up in canada, I heard that someone hit a moose in their car and died, but the moose just kept walking. But I don't know if moose live in texas. Plus they're larger types of deer, the largest in the deer family as a matter of fact. But if it's in texas, the size of a deer, and can outrun a car, I'd say it's a pronghorn antelope. They can go up to 45 miles per hour, and I'm pretty sure they'r the size of a deer, if not smaller to keep them lighter and faster.

Are you thinking of the Chupacabra? I've never heard it described as a fast runner or being the size of a deer.
A pronghorn antelope doesn't fit, as it is a beautiful animal.
