Alternative rock and Brit Rock is obviously very popular in Britain.
I think electronic music is also huge there. It is more likely to hear electronic music at clubs than anything else.

You can't ask what sort of music is played in Europe - all types are played here, and each have their own variations. What would you say was played mainly in the States? Exactly - you can't. It's too simplistic to say Death Metal in Scandinavia, Brit Pop in the UK, balilika music in the former USSR. Sorry - doesn't work like that!

well in europe i would mostly say popular music in general which means US or European .... ussually what u listen to on mtv it's really part of globilization most of the world listens to same thing when u think about ppl listening to 50 in china and knowing the words i wonder how many gansta chinese around lol :p or ppl or girls in Irand listening to don't cha ! by the pussycat dolls :p i would say that the biggest European sensation this year has to be James Blunt from the UK with his two singles your beautiful and goodbye my lover i heard them all over Europe in all the charts so i think it was a very big hit last year and ppl still listen to it .......... anyway hope that was useful :p

All kinds. Just depends on your taste. There's a lot of European people that like American music. European music is the same as American, they have the same genres, such as rock, rap and so on. But I guess European sounds different cause it's in different languages. And there are some artists that use more folk elements.
