usually you have to find the virus, and erase it.
You may have to erase infected software.
Virus cleaner/detector software may be able to clean out your existing software, but you may have to erase all your software, reformat the hard disk, and re-load ALL your clean/safe software.

I use Norton Anti virus. Get Norton System works when you get it fixed and you can use the GOBACK program to go back to the point when it did not have a virus. It is great. If your ani virus program does not remove it try typing the name of the virus into your search engine with the word cleanup beside it. I bet you will find a website with instuctions on how to manually clean the virus. Be sure and print it. If all else fails reset your computer to its original factory settings. let that be the last resort because you will lose everything that did not come installed on the computer. Good luck!

Avast has a scanner and virus cleaner. You have to have the free home edition anti-virus software though. I really like this one. I had a win32.sasser on mine and it washed it right out and restored some files. My PC is running smoother now. It also has a kick a$$ database update. The only thing that it doesn't seem to be compatible with is the Adaware software. But that is because it is a data miner. AND on the plus side of things, both the anti-virus and the cleaner are totally free. Yeah, I have the Adaware SE on my computer too. But you can set it up to accept the program as safe file.
