I've read books about UNIX, WINDOWS NT. I'm really interested to write my own OS. lets start with small OS, my microprocessor can only address 64KB of RAM. so it must be smallish OS. Later on, I will write this OS using microprocessor native assembly language.

Can anyone guide me, perhaps give outlines of the algoritm, and step by step processes to write this OS.

If this project successfull I will give its own web page so anyone has similar curiosity with me can just follow the steps.

Thank you

I've never taken OS class. It would be very kind of you to let me know what do you cover during OS class. It must be better than reinventing the wheel :-)

I've plenty of time to digest it slowly , that I guess would easier the pain :-)

I've done lots of programming with smallish RISC microprocessor, now I need to be one step more advance, that is using OS. I really need to have structured approach for OS. Target device is smallish microprocessor system, so discussion of abundant RAM is definitely out of topic.

i've done it once for class, but it was really really painful, there is so much you have to take into consideration. Even though I did not totally enjoy the experience of coding the OS, the theory was very interesting. I suggest you use books if you want to do this.

It sure would be a lot easier if you had a computer with a lot of RAM and fast processor. It is not that difficult to write a OS that will work. The problem comes in writing it so that it does not use any patented method already out there. Copy rights have to be adhered to as well so it will take one hell of a lot of research to make one that can be put on the market. Have fun and good luck.
