Very little resemblence. They show something like a hospital and something like the right clothes. They attempt proper jargon, but hospital shows are just as realistic as cop shows. Total nonsense. How many super gorgeous doctors have you seen? Yet, all of them on TV are. That should be a good sign. Forensics shows are a complete farce too. I have wanted to scream the few times I have seen those shows. Such terrible nonsense. The X-Files is a better forensics show than those stupid CSI shows.

ER did a fairly good impersonation of an ER. House does a great job. I have seen a few medical errors in Greys Anatomy . Yet in all 3 the big difference between reality and TV is that health care professionals don't have as much time to socialise on the job.

I'm guessing here but I feel certain the answer is NO, none of the medical TV shows closely resemble a real hospital or ER. I happen to enjoy House because it has a great formula, bucks the system. But, no, in the real world no one has that time to devote to one patient. And like on ER, the way all the characters are so connected - no way. But both great entertainment.

It is somewhat realistic, meaning that it's almost realistic. The unrealistic thing is that, like someone else mentioned here, it's not that fast in real life. I had to go to the ER at my hospital because I was having extreme pain in my stomach but it took more than half an hour to see a nurse and doctor. They had me fill out forms, talk about my pain, and get other info from me before they let me in a room in the ER. Most of the stuff in medical tv shows are real. However, they are too PERFECT. I mean in real life they aren't that fast. Also, it seems that in shows they have perfect nurses and doctors. In real life, they aren't that perfect. For example, doctors don't automatically know what you have. In real life, you have to go to several check ups before the doctor confirms what you have.

No it's not like Scrubs! Alot of the diagnosis and illnesses are related to real life situations and should be taken seriously. Although there are the jokes and pranks in an E.R. when it comes to patients it all putting your attention to what is at hand.

I would have to say no. I have a son who was born 14 weeks early and spend 70 days in the Neo Natal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) before he could come home. There was a preemie born on an episode of ER, they didnt even come close to what its like in NICU unit.

I work at a hospital and for the most part - no.
My hospital friends and I like the humor in "Scrubs". It does remind us of the wacky sense of humor most of us have. It helps to have a sense of humor to deal with some of the things we have to deal with.
As for the ER scenes that you usually see, where it seems like uncontrolled chaos, that's pretty unrealistic. If a hospital conducted itself in such ways, they wouldn't have a license.

listen, even the REALITY TV shows aren't realistic anymore. some are looking for heroes, villans, good looking, funny looking etc. It doesn't matter. Just proves that Americans are voyeuristic.
