Because there are many cases that politicians would like to influence to their own favor in addition to cases against the government that have to be handled by an independent judiciary for there to be any chance of faireness.

This makes me want to ask why the judiciary isn't free and independent from political influence.

It is called the balance of power. If the judiciary branch were tied to the executive or legislative branch, then their decisions could easily be manipulated.

Of course, even the Supreme's have their political agendas and political affiliations. However, it is important that they at least look independent.

It is so that laws & rulings are not biased by a political agenda, but considering most Judges are appointed by a political party. I do not see how they could possibly be free of political influence.

Judicial independence is at the heart of democracy.

Without judicial independence there would be no-one guarding the guards. Those who make and enforce the rules must be held accountable to fundamental rights as enshrined in the Constitution.

Without judicial independence we would not have any guarantee of our constitutional rights.

Because they make decisions on the very lives of other people. How could one make a fair decision if they were influenced by a political agenda? Bribery and blackmail could also be injected into such a situation..........justice means being fair to all.........
