My husband and I are trying for baby #2. Slow going...no luck yet. It took us 4 years to get preg. w/ my son...My question is..after sex..I always have to go to the bathroom to pee..."it" always "drips" if you know what I mean. Am I defeating the purpose, is this hurting my chances? Are any of "the boys" staying in there to do theyre job? Ive always wondered...help??

My doctor advised the following:
Right after sex.... take a quick pee and then go lay down in bed to relax and go to sleep. The pee after sex is important: it eliminates any bacteria from traveling into your bladder (hence reducing UTI's). I've been nursing my now 11 month old and started trying for a second baby when he was 7 months. I got prego the 3rd month trying... and peeing after sex didn't hinder my chances at all. It's a good rule of thumb... and you should always pay a visit to the porcelain god! Good Luck!!

well since it is taking so long, i would wait at least 20 minutes before you go pee after sex. try going to the bathroom before you have sex so that you dont have to go afterwards. if you do pee afterwards some of the sperm will stay in there and some will come out. so to make your chances better you should wait a little while to pee if possible. also, after you have sex, lay there for like 20 minutes so that they dont have to fight gravity. good luck.

"Most definitely there are several sticking around!" Try taking a prenatal vitamin even though you are not yet pregnant.. Both times I got pregnant I was taking vitamins on a regular basis... And it is good to start early anyway, since you know eventually it will happen... Keep positive and try not to think about it so much. My first time around I was waiting for it to happen because a year earlier, I had surgery, in order to get pregnant. When I got my mind off of it and into my job, that is when it happened.. Go figure...

I really do not think that has anything to do with it to be honest...but here is an honest answer, stop putting some much pressure on yourself because that could hinder the process. just try not to worry and go back to enjoy making love and you will see you will be pregnant in no time... the peeing right after has nothing to do with it,,, you know the old saying when you least expected... one more thing i use to pee right after sex. and i still got pregnant. stop worrying about it

I think the more sperm that stays inside you the better your chances , I always pee before sex and then lay with a pillow under my butt until I fall asleep. Also taking prenatal vitamins before you even concieve is a good idea.

This is completely normal! The sperm get to where they need to be in a matter of minutes. What comes out is the seminal fluid, along with any dead sperm.

However: You might want to try laying down for about 15 minutes after sex, with your hips propped up. Getting up after that is fine, but that little extra "gravity" might help...or at least help you feel like you're helping! :)

My doctor gave me this advice because I have also been trying for baby #2. She said not to go to the bathroom but to put a pillow under your butt. She also said instead of doing it everyday to do it every other day to increase chances because it gives them more of a buildup. Good Luck, hope I've helped.

it probably is hurting things, and I know sex makes you feel the need to pee, but even if you can stay laying down for a few minutes it should help. Also, orgasming simultaneously or right after him should help, your cervix dips repeatedly into the semen pool when you do. Good luck!

Yes some are staying in there, but when you pee it'll kinda kill some of em'. To increase your chances hold off on going to the bathroom as long as you can!

No. The ones that have a chance of making it to the egg(s) are shot in there so far and fast that they wouldn't come out just because you pee. What you do pee out are the slowpokes who would die long before they reached your egg(s) anyhow, and would fall out regardless as well.

Good luck!
