I guess answer 2 gave a lot of information, but still I add the following:

Do you know how to read any Indian Language?

First of all you should know what language is it. There are several Indian languages and no single language is known as Indian language. There are Hindi, Marathi, Bengali, Punjabi, Gujarati, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, Malayalam, Oriya and more.

Microsoft XP offers you the support for several Indian fonts. But I guess the source of your data is the best place to look for the support to read it. You should give more information for getting better help.

First you need to know what specifically do you mean by Indian, sanskrit is the major alphabet but there are others. You can try looking at sites such as:

http://www.omniglot.com/links/fonts.htm

To get the font you need. But this will get you only the typeface. You will have to remember the pronouncation of the symbols are different than english. Thus you need to get your hands on a pronounciation guide.
The same site listed about has a listing of them.

Now the question is do you need to have it translated.

A dictionary is a start (although it does not help you with the grammar) a rather limited dictionary can be found on the site.

Hope that helps... still for better translation a translation service is always the best option but it the most expensive.
