Actually, public schools tend to have the best teachers.

Public schools provide a higher pay, and better benefits for teachers than private schools do. Therefore, teachers usually try to find a job in the public sector before searching in the private sector. Furthermore, many of the best teachers are working at low income schools.

When you examine test scores, this does not seem to be the case. However, you must also take into concideration that private schools often have a lower class size than public schools, which means that each student recieves more individualized teaching. Also, with parents paying for their children to go to school, they are taking more interest in their child's education. Both parent support and small class size greatly increase learning.

Low income schools often have larger class sizes, and many students have only one parent who must work two jobs to support their child. These parents do not have time to help their child with homework. Sadly, some low-income families think of school as nothing more than government funded daycare. Again, these students recieve no help from their parents. Finally, many low-income parents don't have the education to help their children out beyond 5th or 6th grade. Teachers at these schools must have a strong desire to help students, and often work 12 hour days. It is difficult to keep going when you see so little progress. Often, the teachers that are not so good don't want to deal with the extra work and extra stress of teaching at low income schools, and thus move to different schools. This leaves the low income schools with a higher percentage of master teachers.

Bad teachers can be found in any school. If you have the option, look at class size, and show interest in your child's education. Teachers teach to 30 kids; you need to be there for individual help. Plus, you need to foster a love of learning in your child. If a child wants to learn, nothing can stop them.

The best schools in america are the ones you will have to pay for like the private institutions because they provide top quality teachers and push students to succeed but if your child is a slacker this will not work for them or you and some public schools are good but most are rough with crime and second rate teachers Another alternative would be home schooling if it's allowed in your state you would have to have the time but being a homeschooled child myself i have to say i highly reccomend it well good luck hope this helps

The best primary and secondary schools are those in and around Alexandria, VA.

This was rated by US News and World Report as well as several other publications.

Make sense, right? That's where the politicians send their kids, so you know they get the most money and the best teachers.
